Itinerary

Day 1: Manali to Changut via Udaipur

Start your journey early in the morning from Manali, driving through the scenic landscapes of the Himalayas.
Cross the Atal tunnel and continue your drive to Udaipur, located in the picturesque Chandrabhaga Valley, known for its serene beauty and rich cultural heritage.
From Udaipur, head north into the stunning Miyar Valley, known for its lush meadows and towering peaks.
Arrive at the small village of Changut, where you'll spend the night, soaking in the tranquility of this remote and peaceful location.

Day 2: Changut to Thanapattan via Shukto

Begin the day with a short drive to the roadhead at the village of Shukto, where your trek officially starts.
Cross the Miyar Nallah on a swaying wooden bridge, leading you into Khanjer, the last village in the Miyar Valley.
The trail ascends through Khanjer, passing by the local temple and chorten, offering a glimpse into the village's spiritual life.
Cross a couple of streams as the trail leads you out of the village and into the expansive meadows.
Trek across these vast, open meadows for a few kilometers, enjoying the stunning views and fresh mountain air.
Arrive at the grazing grounds of Thanpattan.
Your campsite is set up here, relax and unwind there.
In the evening, visit the chorten on a small hill near the campsite for a peaceful moment of reflection.
Come back to the campsite where a warm dinner will be served.
Overnight stay in Thanpattan, under the starry Himalayan sky.

Day 3: Thanpattan to Yolithang

Start the day with a short, leisurely walk along an easy trail, leading you deeper into the stunning Miyar Valley.
Begin with a steep climb to a chorten, where you'll be rewarded with expansive views of the upper valley.
Marvel at the towering rock cliffs that rise dramatically on either side of the valley, creating a breathtaking natural corridor.
Continue your trek through the grazing grounds of Tharang, where the landscape is dotted with vibrant pink Himalayan fleece flowers.
Admire the majestic rock and ice faces of Tharang Peak, which dominate the scenery to your right, offering a striking backdrop to your walk.
From there, arrive at Yolithang, your picturesque campsite for the day, nestled in the heart of the valley's natural beauty.
Spend the night at Yolithang, surrounded by the tranquility of the mountains.

Day 4: Yolithang to Zardung

Begin the day by crossing a boulder field near the Yolithang campsite, then descend into a vast, open grassland.
You’ll see a subsidiary valley offering views of a gigantic rock pyramid on your right, which is known to connect to Darcha on the Manali-Leh highway via a high pass.
The trail then leads you to Gompa a scenic campsite surrounded by small lakes that beautifully reflect the surrounding mountains.
Continue your journey toward Zardung.
Zardung is a magnificent campsite, known for its enormous boulders, some of which are believed to contain precious stones.
Spend the evening exploring the fascinating boulder area, soaking in the unique landscape, and perhaps discovering a hidden gem.
Overnight in Zardung, enjoying the serenity and mystique of this exceptional campsite.

Day 5: Zardung to Kesar Yon Chhaap

Start your most captivating day of the trek as you get further into the heart of the Miyar Valley.
It becomes increasingly beautiful as you approach the source of the Miyar River.
The dramatic crossing of a broad, glacial stream, which is cold and wide adds an adventurous touch to the day.
Following the stream, a short walk will bring you to a section of the terminal moraine of the Miyar Glacier.
Arrive at the campsite for the night, at Kesar Yon Chhaap, which translates to "Seven Holy Waters." This idyllic spot is renowned for its seven emerald-green lakes situated nearby.
Spend the evening exploring these stunning lakes, each offering a unique and serene reflection of the surrounding landscape.
Overnight at Kesar Yon Chhaap, where the breathtaking scenery of the glacier and emerald lakes will provide a memorable end to a remarkable day.

Day 6: Kesar Yon Chhaap to Gompa

After enjoying the serene beauty of Kesar Yon Chhaap, begin your journey back by retracing your steps down the valley.
The return journey offers a different perspective of the valley's stunning landscapes, as you retrace the path through the expansive grasslands and past the giant rock pyramid visible from the earlier days.
Make your way back to the campsite at Gompa, which you passed earlier in the trek.
Arrive at Gompa, where you’ll once again set up camp near the small lakes that reflect the surrounding peaks.
Enjoy a restful evening at Gompa, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere and reflecting on the journey so far.
Overnight in Gompa, surrounded by the serene beauty of the lakes and the majestic mountains.

Day 7: Gompa to Changut via Shukto

Begin the day by walking down from Gompa to the village of Shukto, retracing your steps along the scenic trail.
Upon reaching Shukto, board your vehicles for the drive back to Changut.
The drive offers a chance to relax and enjoy the picturesque landscapes as you leave the valley behind.
Arrive in Changut and check in at your campsite.
Enjoy a restful evening in the quaint village, reflecting on the trek and the stunning scenery you’ve experienced throughout your journey.
Overnight in Changut, where you can unwind and savor the last moments of your adventure in the Miyar Valley.

Day 8: Changut to Manali via Udaipur

After breakfast, begin your drive back to Manali via the Atal Tunnel, an engineering marvel that offers a smooth and scenic route through the mountains.
Enjoy the drive as you traverse through the tunnel and back into the lush landscapes surrounding Manali.
Arrive in Manali by late afternoon, around 4 PM.
The trek officially ends in Manali, where you can reflect on your memorable adventure in the Miyar Valley.
