Overview

Chandrakhani Winter Expedition

The Chandrakhani Winter Trek is one of the most magnificent high altitude treks that one can undertake at the very heart of Himachal Pradesh. This trek, organized by Lazymonkadventure, comprises an eight nights, nine-day long trek into the snow-covered landscapes of the Kullu valley, including the famous Chandrakhani pass at an altitude of around 3,660 metres above sea level. The Chandrakhani winter trek, however, is not merely an adventure trek but a life-changing journey where one discovers the true essence of the Himalayan peaks.

The Chandrakhani Winter Trek starts off from Naggar, a quaint little town located on the east side of the Beas river valley in the Kullu district. Not only is it a starting point for treks, but it also holds a rich history of temples dating back centuries ago, an ancient castle, and more culture than you would expect. Once you leave Naggar, you find yourself amidst lush green pine-oak forests, pristine white meadows, and untouched villages located in the Himalayas. The trek route passes through a variety of scenery that is absolutely breathtaking.

Another significant landmark of the Chandrakhani Winter Trek is the village of Chachogi. This quiet and serene hamlet located in the mountains becomes an important point where people can pause during their journey. In this small village of the Himalayas, tourists will be able to have a glimpse into how life in such mountain villages looks like. Meeting warm-hearted people, enjoying the smell of fresh food being cooked, and feeling the tranquility of the mountains will become unforgettable moments for all visitors of these villages.

On climbing further on the Chandrakhani Winter Expedition route, the path leads into the high alpine meadow of Stelling, popularly referred to as Ghan Kraree. The Stelling alpine meadow is an ideal destination for nature lovers and photographers. During the winter season, the alpine meadow is covered with snow, while the surrounding peaks glisten in the winter sun.

The view from Stelling extends to the Pir Panjal mountain range, the Baragarh mountain massif, and the far-off Dhauladhar mountain range, giving a breathtaking view. The summit of the Chandrakhani Pass provides a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains of the Himalayas.

What sets the Chandrakhani Winter Expedition with Lazymonkadventure apart from others is the detailed preparation and expert knowledge about everything related to the trekking route. The trekking experts from Lazymonkadventure have a lot of experience regarding the trekking route and know the terrain, climate, and local communities very well. They ensure that proper safety measures are maintained throughout the trekking journey, and the participants are acclimatized appropriately before trekking at high altitudes. Additionally, they make sure that the participants remain safe and warm during their stay at campsites despite the freezing temperature.

Chandrakhani Winter Trekking is considered a moderately difficult trek, which implies that it is ideal for those who have a bit of trekking experience or are physically fit. The winter season adds another dimension to the trek as the trek route is covered in snow, with fresh mountain air and chances of experiencing snow falling, making the adventure more thrilling. Trekking enthusiasts are expected to pack appropriate winter clothing, and Lazymonkadventure offers helpful advice on what to pack before embarking on the adventure.

Apart from the test of physical prowess and the natural beauty of the trail, the Chandrakhani Winter Trekking Expedition is an exploration of self-discovery. Traversing through quiet, snowy forests, viewing the stars from a secluded mountaintop camping area, and engaging in conversations around the warm fireplace with other trekking companions – these are the experiences that serve as a reminder of why we travel to the mountains. The Chandrakhani Winter Trekking Expedition does not only involve trekking; rather, it provides you with an experience that will leave you changed forever.
